Western Spiritual
My paintings are about quiet transformation — spaces where the immediacy of the present moment is interwoven with images that come from memories, emotion, imagination, and unseen energy that can only be felt.
The paintings are inspired by the land of the American West and the Texas Hill Country, places I’ve lived, explored, and respect. The landscapes represent the feeling of being in the calm present moment. The skies are an expanse of light, color, and movement. The skies represent a vast spiritual realm where we can only feel, but not fully see. I used the color green as a way to take us to new places.
Moving through these spaces is the ever-present coyote. Throughout legend and mythology, the coyote appears as a trickster and a messenger of transformation and adaptability.
There are lonely dirt roads stretching far into the distance, stirring longing—inviting us to follow, to wander, to discover where the unknown leads. A distant horse and rider move across the land with the promise of adventure and new experiences.
Together, these iconic symbols from the west takes us to on a journey traveling between what is known and the unseen spiritual realms. In the quiet, we can experience all of it fully and let it flow simultaneously — it feels like magic.
